Russia Uses Classic Terrorist Tactics To Murder Emergency Workers
Facts and opinions from a retired Firefighter
Firstly, in the interest of full disclosure I am a retired firefighter of 37 years experience who watched in horror on 9/11 as thousands of civilians, emergency workers and 343 of my brother and sister firefighters were murdered.
By now it should come as a shock to no one to hear that Russia is accused of war crimes. We see them commit them on a daily basis. Bombing civilians out of spite because of their frustration with failures on the battlefield. The petulant mass missile attacks on Ukrainian cities whenever Ukraine hits a legitimate military target.
They threatened that they would freeze Europe to death last winter and tried to legitimately do it to Ukraine by destroying their energy system.
And of course their callous attempts to blackmail the world by depriving it of access to Ukrainian wheat – which produces a third of the world’s supply.
We are aware of the fact that they imprison, torture, SA and murder Ukrainian citizens in the occupied territories and Ukrainian prisoners of war.
But recently a new report from the Ukrainian State Emergency Services revealed that they may have struck a new low.
In a report released on August 8 after a particularly horrible Russian strike on the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, State Emergency Services spokesman said that since February of 2022 when the all out war commenced Russia had been responsible for the death of 78 Ukrainian first responders and the wounding of 280.
He further explained that many of these casualties are as a result of a tactic that Russia adopted that Ukraine is referring to as a “double tap”
Russia will strike at civilian infrastructure with the intent of causing casualties. They will then wait an appropriate amount of time to ensure that emergency services have arrived on scene to deal with the fires, collapse and casualties and then strike the same spot again. With the aim of causing casualties among the emergency workers.
If this tactic sounds familiar to you, it should. It has long been a favoured tactic of terrorists world wide and has been used on countless occasions, most famously during on September 11th 2001 with the strikes on the World Trade Centre.
None of these war crimes should be forgiven and when the war finally comes to an end not only should Russia have to pay reparations but every individual involved in these reprehensible acts should be brought to justice.
