On the night of May 25 (from 8:40 p.m. on May 24), Russia carried out a combined strike across Ukraine using 367 enemy air attack vehicles including 69 missiles and 298 attack UAVs
The overwhelming targets of these heinous attacked were not military or industrial, they were the Ukrainian people in their cities and towns countrywide.
This article is a shout out to my brothers and sisters in Ukraine’s State Emergency Service that have to nightly deal with the toll of this evil attack on the people of Ukraine. Day in, day out they answer the call. Nobly serving the people of Ukraine, while all the time having the same worries as other citizens about their family, their homes.
They cannot stay in shelter, they must respond to the explosions, always at risk of the of the criminal Russian habit of the “Double Tap” where Russia will attack a target, wait 20 minutes to ensure emergency services will be on scene then hit the same target again hoping for maximum casualties among the rescuers.
Regardless these brave men and women soldier on protecting the citizens of Ukraine and their property.
Ready to respond at a moments notice to any emergency.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine, 100 emergency workers have been killed and 430 have been injured. Many of those injured are bomb disposal experts, suffering severe blast injuries that require lengthy and costly recovery.
Additionally, emergency medical teams have been among the casualties in recent missile strikes, such as the Odesa attack, where a medic and a rescuer were killed when a second missile struck as they were aiding victims.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has been providing support to the families of fallen emergency workers and offering alternative roles for those unable to return to active duty.
